Scott and his husband Christopher created and operate Omaka Lodge, a boutique bed and breakfast 7km south of Taumarunui on the Forgotten World Highway.  They bought the house (then a family home at the centre of a 5,500 acre sheep and beef station) and 10.5 acres in early 2017, and moved there in June 2017.

Opening for guests on 27 December 2017, Scott and Chris devote all their attention to the running of Omaka Lodge, blending Chris’ hospitality background and Scott’s sales & marketing background. Alongside developing the accommodation side of things, they also expanded the garden from 2 acres to over 3.5 acres, and were honoured to be rated a 5-star Garden Of National Significance by the NZ Gardens Trust.

Scott and Christopher attended the 2020 B&B Association Conference in Wellington, and were captivated by what they learned. Shortly afterwards, Scott was honoured to join the Board and be able to represent members.
